Minecraft - Week 6

I have seen the first snow of the year here. I'm glad to know that it snows.

I've lost track of what date it is, and even which week exactly, although I think I've been here approaching two months.

I have discovered an immense wealth of iron, diamonds, gold and obsidian, but had become stuck in a cave I had once again fallen into. Luckily I managed to redirect the flow of a waterfall into a magma pool to allow me safe passage back to the surface, which again came through breaking out below the water line - where I became stuck below the ice and had to abandon my items in search of air. After a rapid burst, which cracked the ice, some recovery time in bed, and a search of the ocean floor, I soon recouped my lost items.

Seeing leaks in my tunnels, I reinforced the walls, and using the obsidian I had found, I finished constructing the obsiidan ring outlined in the notes from the mines. making a portal following the template I had found.

Nothing happened.

Deciding to return to where I had been and mine more obsidian in case it was required, I returned underground. Soon reaching the now blackened ex-lava pool, I began to dig for many hours before heading back to the surface.

Along the way, I came into contact with one of the monsters of this land, barely taking shelter inside a passageway as it exploded. The blast still knocked me unconscious and I came too disorientated, and began to wander the tunnels as hunger gnawed away at me. I eventually found my way out, emerging on a hillside, guided by the sound of chickens and cows, which I soon rewarded for their guidance by warming them above a fire and satiating my hunger.

Heading back to my island home, I encounted and killed, if that term can be used, many skeleton creatures and zombies / exploding beings.

I swear that I saw another human in the distance, a tall, thin man dressed in black, although he disappeared when I blinked.

Upon getting home, I began renovating my lair, building a furnace room for cooking / smelting, and unloading my goods before tumbling into bed.

Rereading the notes in the morning, I found that I must ignite the portal to activate it.

Hurriedly equipping myself for an excavation into the unknown, I struck a spark near the obsidian ring and witnessed a purple glow ignore across the frame, strange violet flakes of what seemed to be ash drifting through.

Inside was a surreal world, even compared to the one I had woken up in scant months ago. Hellish and stifling hot, it appeared I had materialised in a huge cavern, teeming with what seemed some rotting hybrid of pig and man walking about, and huge floating heads in the sky, trailing tentacles and spitting fireballs.

My first instinct being to dig, I huddled into a mountain side and watched awhile before tunneling down, soon striking a tunnel system, or maybe a road. Seemingly lined with blood and bone, I followed it to a half-finished castle or fort system. Tentatively exploring, I saw flaming skeletal beasts which soon attacked me.

Turning to flee, I headed back to the portal, determined to bring resources to establish my own out post here.

Back in the real world, if that is what this is,  I brought my building materials from storage and began scouting for food. In a snowy glade I saw a wolf attacking a herd of sheep amongst the snow. Approaching it with an offering, I quickly tamed it, and had it come hunting with me. With it's aid I managed to slaughter a menagerie of chickens, cows and pigs, and also some squids sunning themselves in shallow water, although sadly the pup drowned in the process.

With my food replenished, I ventuerd back into the void and established a base amidst an old fortress room, connected to the portal, which I had reinforced in a shelter of its own, by a mine-cart system.

Finishing my new outpost by placing a second bed, looking forward to my much earned rest, I was awaken by explosions to see one of the floating heads had entirely destroyed the outerwall and much of my interior with a barrage of fireballs from the floating heads.

Gathering what I could I ran, but, turning quickly to avoid a herd of aggressive pigmen, I dropped all of my possessions into the sea of flames which the whole complex was constructed on.

I have since fled back to what I am now considering the normal world, and I will reprovision and rearm myself before fully exploring the ruins I found there, and re-establishing my secondary outpost in the hopes of somehow finding a portal home.
